17 April 2009

It's Friday, 17 April 2009...
This is the day when the 1st term semester brings to a close.
It is also the Parents/Teachers Day at beilou's kindie.
So no class for beilou today cos it's meant for us parents meeting up with the class teacher to review of what beilou has done in his class and how he progresses through out the 1st semester.

Reaches there on time, 8.30am...with red & teary eyes mainly caused by the stupid lenses and waited for my turn to meet with beilou's class teacher, Teacher Jacinta
When the moment comes, I was kinda excited or maybe worried of what Teacher Cinta might say about beilou. Here's what actually went on...

TC: Hi, Mrs. Choong...

Me: Good morning, Teacher Cinta...

TC: Khai Yang...I have no problem with him-lah and I can say
he is one of my best student here. (showing me a book with
beilou's progresses...saw some A's & B's in there)

Me (with teary eyes): Really ah?...hahaha...I'm happy.

TC: Yes...he was not so good at the beginning cos he doesn't listen to anybody.
TC: He only wants to have things his way...ignoring my words...
so there was a time that I scolded him & made him sit aside.
TC: He cried & screamed "I don't want, I don't want"

Me: Isit ar? hahaha (eyes still teary)

TC: Yah...I told him if he cries then he won't be going home that day...
only then he stopped...the crying & screaming...and from that day on,
he listens to every word I say to him. He will sit down quietly & starts to learn.
He regconizes all the words I teach him using the flashcards.

Me: Aiyoh...terrible lah him...

TC: Yah...you see, I had to be hard on them, sometimes, but I don't hit them lah.

Me: It's okay...you should cos sometimes they can be so badly behaved.
It is good also cos at least he's afraid of you but he still wants to come to school.
I tried scaring him saying that I will tell Teacher Cinta this & that whenever
he's naughty or not doing his homework.
But he still want to come to school.

TC (patting my arms): That means he likes it here lah (giggles)

Me: Yes, yes.
So who does he mix around with the most?

TC: I try to mix them around with everybody. Before, the chinese kids sits
in one table...then they kept chit-chatting...in mandarin.
So, time from time I switches their sits so that everybody will have
a chance to meet with each other.

Me: That's good!

TC: I even scolded them once when I heard them speaking mandarin,
I said, "no mandarin in my class!"

Me: Hahaha...what I want to say now is that, I'm happy to have you
as his teacher. Cos I want him to speak & learn more in English.

TC: (proudly accepted my compliment & patted my arms, again)
But another things is...he is always going to the toilet...
I wonder what he's doing there cos he really goes quite a few times, everyday...
Maybe he doesn't want to sit in the class for too long or what but
one day I have to go check him out at the toilet.

Me: Really ar? I think maybe he's trying to adapt himself to
his non-diaper days lah.
Actually he only started not wearing a diaper on the 1st day here.
Before, he was still on diaper. So maybe he's scared & worried that
he might wet himself. That's why, maybe.

TC: I see...Oklah then...we've got no other choices lah...

Me: (knodded) Ok, thank you, Teacher Cinta...see you.

TC: Thank you...See you...

But before I leave, Teacher Cinta asked,
"you are not feeling well ar? why you look sick?"

Arggh, I hated my eyes...

know why? Cos I kept wiping them with hankie...
I told her that my eyes got infections before that's why they are always so teary.

Ahhhh...

There he is...successfully strived or I should say 'sailed' rather than 'strived' (sounds scary)

all his way through 1st term of kindie this year...
am glad & proud...although it only just got started...

I brought home a whole load of his 'masterpieces' created by beilou during classes from Teacher Cinta
there were art & crafts, exercise books in English, BM, Mandarin & Maths.

He can even sings the tune of "The Blue Danube"

"fei po cai dan che...deng deng, deng deng"

hahaha...another funny version of mine...

and a few songs of Friends & Grandparents
which I make him sing every night before going to sleep...

"Good friends, true friends,
Together we play and share,
Good friends, true friends,
Together we love and care"

&

"I love you Grandma,
Grandma is close to my heart~
"I love your Grandpa,
Grandpa is close to my heart~"

Ahahaha! Hope I got this one right...

Wait til you hear him sings ;)

I'M SO PROUD!!!

Van Merah

~ Van Merah ~

(Note: This is not the ORI Van Merah)

Exactly what is it about Van Merah?

Hehe...

There's this nasi lemak stall which I like to frequent most as I think their nasi lemak are the bestest here in BBS...
I love it with sambal sotong and hubs prefers rendang.
The lady boss would regconize us the moment we walk by her stall and she would automatically peel 1 whole 'telur rebus' for me, then my nasi lemak would go with 'tak mau kacang', 'tak mau sambal' and 'timun lebih'...I like it simple & nice...
This stall has been here for almost 10 years plus...most probably...
We have been eating nasi lemak from this stall since the co. I work with first moved here. We can have it for almost everyday...cos it taste so good...
And when my bro inlaw join our company...I recommended him to 'makan' from this stall. He, of course, fell in love straingt away. He, too, will have himself a pack of nasi lemak for breakfast...every morning.
I remembered asking him, "You sick also still eat nasi lemak meh?"...
(he was on MC the day before...but he still won't give up of it)

The lady & her hubby that own this stall...they have kids...I think they have more than 4 kids. Cos we would see her kids come helping during school holidays...
Her eldest girl went to a boarding school so she hardly comes home.
And her chubby cutie 2nd son was merely about 10-11 years old then.
Well, time sure flies...as they are all grown up now (so do us)
You would see the chubby little fella got himself a driving license and have been cruising round & about together with his mom nowadays...in their brand new Toyota MPV...
They still help around the stall these days...and when the lady got themselves a 'spot' at this warong kopi nearby and they created their own favourite corner for customers to 'makan' & 'minum'. It has been a favourite for the people working nearby and myself & hubs too.

Recently...she moved away...and I didn't even know where has they gone...As for the fav spot...someone else are selling there now...I asked the new nasi lemak guy as where's this kakak moved to...he said, "tak tau lah..."

Sigh...too bad...we lost them...

It was when last Wednesaday after sending beilou off to kindie when I saw a newly opened nasi lemak stall nearby.

I didn't notice that it was all the while that the 'Van Merah' lady been selling there...
So they shifted back to their old 'spot' once again but not with 'Van Merah' this time.
Without any doubt...I went to get myself a nice pack of nasi lemak...
And I've asked them why did they moved...

(kakak) "taukeh ambil balik kedai lah"...
(me) "oh...iya ke..."
(me) "I pun tak perasan lah u ada kat sini"
(kakak) "iya lah, skrang van merah dah takde, orang tak kenal...
dia orang kenal van merah aja"
(me) "haha...iya lah tu...kasi kreta baru cat merah lah..."
(kakak) " eh!...tak cantik lah tuuu..."

Hahaha...'trademark' ler tuuuu...

102 Days to 17 April 2009

Jr's work... merely means anything to do with beilou's academic progress & achievement...
be it learning at home, kindie or primary & secondary and college or uni, later. My gosh!
Oooh...I'm flying with high hopes...
On top of everything else, I do hope that he will do well in anything possible and I pray for him to be as healthy as can be...as he's always falling sick...fortunately, minor, common illnesses...thank GOD...(sigh)

Back-date to Monday, 5th Jan. 2009, that was when beilou started his very 1st day at pre-school... kindie...Q'dees, BBS. I enrol him at this branch simply because firstly, it is nearby to my work place and I found that they have balance activities for kids. Don't want to burden beilou with loads of schoolwork with no play at all. Comparing to the other centre, I must say that this branch really have what every kids dreamed of. They can have their outdoor curriculum e.g. the once-a-week swimming session, a little play at the playground, having fun with the Gymflex Programme and a spacious porch for their weekly assembly. That's when 'Negaraku' being belted out...so proud...I can't recall myself singing 'Negaraku' during kindie...although I was six years old that time...and beilou is only 4!
(this pix taken a week before school starts)
They started with 2 days of orientation and getting to REAL school time on the 3rd day.

He did fine for the starting week of kindie...only problem was that he misses us for not being there with him. I think he actually wanted us to share with his new & fun experiences where he meet with new friends, exploring new things and so on...

~ Class Time-Table ~

Well, there's a thing here that hasn't been improving is that he just couldn't get himself up early in the morning cos he just wouldn't go to bed any sooner at night...tsk tsk...I can't stand it myself. The earliest time he goes to bed is 12am...terrible...
If by any chance he napped in the afternoon, he might go to sleep earlier, say 9pm...
But still, he's reluctant to get up the next day...groan...

Oh-Bento-ing...

Say what?! Bento? Obento?
Yes...Bento (written 弁当), or obento (お弁当), is the Japanese word for a meal served in a box. Beyond that basic definition though, just about anything goes as to what kind of box or container is used, as well as what is put inside that box.

As to why so sudden bento-ing came about... it all happened when I came across this wonderful site, justbento.com featuring "Fun with Japanese egg molds" by maki...

I just couldn't believe what I saw in there...egg moulds??? Are they for real??? How come I didn't know of their existence??? They are just SOOOO cute!

Then there were some other fun to use bento accessories like cartoon character bento boxes, rice cakey molds and the list goes on...

Quickly, I went searching for a local site on whether those cutie thingy are being sold here in M'sia. Finally, with much effort & with the aid of Google...I've found a local site that provide recipes for bento and none of the less...more adorable yet useful bento accessories...

The products sold here are quite the same with JBOX.com (not local - recommended by Just Bento) and reasonably priced... Though, it can actually cost up to RM115 for a Hello Kitty complete bento box.

Well, when it comes to a good deal...it is up to one to decide...

Hence, I decided to buy some of these cute molds online...

New Stylish Tokyo ... you have made my day...

I'm gonna put in the simplest ingredients in my bentos, if ever I'm gonna make one. Not a good cook myself, I prefer something that's easy to prepare and easily found at home...

As you can see here...there's the eggs molds - shapes of car, bear, fish & rabbit. Then, there's the heart shape & cherry blossom shape rice molds, also rice molds in bear, boy & girl faces. Aren't they cute? Hehehe...

And the bento~in a plate with sauted vege & salted pork (cooked by Mom)

That's a start for me for bento-ing...I will try to make a better one when time comes.

Munch~munch...

Ahhhh...Aglio Olio ~ Spaghetti With Garlic, Olive Oil & Chilli

My favourite!!!
It is a traditional Italian way of serving spaghetti. And it tastes just so good although you can only find none other than garlic, oil & chilli with it.

Actually, the cooking of spaghetti this way is so versatile that it can go with almost anything e.g. seafood & vege...

I've tried a few times cooking a meal or two of nice aglio olio but it seemed that it hardly meets to the perfection.
Ahahaha...talking ala chef here pulak...

But still, I'm not quiting any sooner...

Infact, I cooked my version of aglio olio for lunch yesterday and had it with Dad & bei-lou...

I added sausages into the cooking process and substitute dried chillies with red chillies...

I asked Dad how was it...he said "ok-lah..."

But I know...there must be something...

That's right! The pasta didn't get its way to al dente and it was abit too dried up...as there weren't any stock for me so I added water but it wasn't enough...eiyeeerrr...

Let's hope that I will cook a better Aglio Olio one day...

Now here's another form of cooking with noodles,
ramen...the japanese way of course.

I, too adores ramen as much as aglio olio.

Ramen ~ can be cooked in either clear or spicy broth & even frying it ala chinese style.

But I prefer to eat my ramen with clear, miso or shoyu soup...

With the basic yet vital ingredients ~ boiled egg, japanese fish cakes, bamboo shoots & seaweeds completes a yummybowl of ramen. Just nice...

But I don't think I'll be any 'skillfull' to cook this meal...as it really needs time to make the broth by boiling the meat for at least 3 hours...fuh! where got time ^_^

So, we'll just go to some nice Japanese eatery to eat it lor...fuss-free...

Work-work

Well, well...HB was out with da' boys so only left bei-lou & myself at home last night.

We were hangin' about in our room, bei-lou playing with his fav toys and I was lying, restlessly on my bed. Ahhhh... what a night, I thought.
All that didn't last very long as bei-lou's 'tai-ko' came back after an outing to the pasar malam with SILs... Bei-lou was thrilled and he ran down to meet with his 'taiko' with full excitement...you can imagine that...tsk, tsk.
He was down there playing for about an hour then he came back to our room with me, still, on the bed... Soon after I changed him into his PJs, he wanted to watch his favs Ben 10 cartoons, just like he did almost every night...the same episodes over & over, again & again.
Okay, I said...it should be fine as the clock had just struck 11pm.
After awhile, bei-lou asked if he can 'work-work' i.e. writing, coloring...
I said 'NO' this time, cos we really had to go 'oi-oi'...
But he insisted...so badly...I had to give way & let him 'work'.
So, there I was...putting away my stuffs left on his mini-desk earlier on, carrying the desk to him & let him color....fuss...

There he goes...

While doing his 'work-work', he even asked,

"Mi, nice mao?"

"Niiiice", I said...hehehe...sobei-lou...

That was OUR Thursday night...

Am looking forward to TONITE! Yay!

TGIF...
